Re- thinking 'Makrai', Summer School
Collaboration with MITS Gwalior
Aagaur Studio is an organization that specializes in providing new and exciting experiences for architecture students and professionals. Every year, they organize an annual event aimed at expanding the knowledge and understanding of participants in the field of architecture. This year, they collaborated with MITS Gwalior to organize a 5-day trip to Makrai, Harda, M.P.
The main objective of the trip was to explore and understand archaeology, materials, and different architectural styles. This goal was made possible through the assistance of Mr. Dhananjay Shah, the owner of the Makrai Fort and a valued client of Aagaur Studio. His support allowed the participants to gain exclusive access to the fort and delve deeper into its architectural significance.
Throughout the 5-day trip, the participants had the opportunity to not only visit the fort but also explore nearby areas such as the Jail, court, post office, and temple. These locations were surrounded by picturesque landscapes, including lush green trees, mountains, and a river, offering a scenic backdrop for the educational activities.
The main focus of the trip was for the students to observe and analyze the architectural features of the fort. They were encouraged to measure the fort, examine the brick bonds and stones used in construction, and study the old carvings, columns, and arches. Additionally, the students were also tasked with sketching the areas, creating plans, and developing elevations. These activities aimed to enhance their understanding of archaeology and architecture, benefiting their future projects in the field.
While the trip had an educational purpose, it also provided an opportunity for the participants to bond with one another and engage in meaningful conversations about architecture. They were encouraged to ask questions and gain insights from the professionals present during the trip. This fostered a sense of community and allowed for valuable networking opportunities.
In conclusion, the 5-day trip to Makrai organized by Aagaur Studio offered a unique blend of educational exploration, scenic adventure, and meaningful interactions for architecture students and professionals. It allowed participants to gain hands-on experience and deepen their understanding of architectural concepts while also providing opportunities for personal growth and networking in the field.
