Malwa Kabir Yatra 2023
These stage designs for a Yatra event held in Luniyakhedi, Nalkheda, Pipliya Mandi, and Indore. Each location had a distinct theme and creative elements incorporated into their stage designs.
In Luniyakhedi, the focus was on shadow play. Cardboard boxes were used to create human-sized silhouettes of dancers and singers. These silhouettes were placed in front of white cloth and illuminated with warm white lights from behind, giving the appearance of shadows. With the rest of the surrounding lights kept dim, the stage had a theatrical aesthetic.
For the Nalkheda location, the design was inspired by Kabir, a famous saint. A large silhouette of Saint Kabir and his Tambura was cut from cardboard and painted with black oxide paint. LED strip lights were placed behind the cutout, and the rest of the stage was kept black with dim surrounding lights. The impactful design impressed many musicians.
Pipliya Mandi's concept revolved around LED strip lights. The outline of the stage was created with yellow strip lights, and the platform where the artist performed was made in a cube form using magenta strip lights. As the sun set, the LED lights created an illusionary door effect, leaving everyone amazed by the simple yet clever concept.
In Indore, the stage design focused on vibrant pop colors and was designed for band performances. Paper fans (called Firki) were utilized, creating silhouettes out of cardboard boxes that were painted with distemper paints. These silhouettes were affixed to bamboo and set against a backdrop of pink and yellow. The fun and lively concept of this stage made a lasting impact on the audience.
Overall, it was a fun experience creating unique and creative stage designs for the Yatra event at different locations.
